What is a line if it does not exist in space? The visual adventures of a line in the three dimensional space was my starting point in art. What drew my attention from the very beginning was the way that a “running” line in space creates itself spaces and although it remains static, it provides the viewers with the idea of motion in three dimensions.

In my installations I create routes of a line that follow the three dimensions of a specific place and outline objects that I imply as existent. A new place is thus born, defined by the created line and of the forms that I “draw” in space or the actual objects I integrate in my creations.

The line is always the main element in my installations, one that cannot be reduced to anything else. The result is in every case aesthetically minimal. What changes in my projects is their conceptual basis. Starting from a single “running” line, I passed to more complex structures and I finally turned to linear, simplified and easily recognizable symbols that pose socially and/or politically engaged questions. The line acquired the meaning of a limit bearing multiple references: personal, emotional, psychological, philosophical etc.

In my recent work I concentrate on designing more site-developed works for open, public places. I take into consideration not only each site’s specific spatial characteristics, but I consider public space as a socially shaped site, bearing marks of its uses and abuses, its users’ daily routines, its functions etc. Therefore, the subjects I choose for my projects tackle notions specifically connected to the specific sites.
